Sun’s out, Bourne Water Dragons are out!!
Out on the beautiful, Beaulieu River and the 18th Century Ship Builders Village of Bucklers Hard in the heart of the New Forest.
Our coach and organiser for the day was Tim Smith who very kindly gave both his time as well as providing us with a dragon boat for the day.
This was Bourne Water Dragons' first outing this year and we had a wonderful paddle down the scenic river and out to sea, which was enjoyed by all who were able to take part.
Dragon boating is one of the most exciting, inclusive, and fastest-growing water sports worldwide. Deeply embedded in Chinese Culture, dragon boating has gradually made its way into the UK sports scene.
Tim Smith has been involved in the sport for many years and during his time has coached the Seniors and Juniors for the GB teams. Tim says, “we did 14km in just over 3 hours". This was a great achievement.
After that, the team and supporters enjoyed a lovely picnic made even better thanks to the great weather. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots of fun.
We are off to Cookham to participate in a festival in September and from there who knows.
